Readers, I’ve juts returned from the Teen Vogue 2008 Readers’ Choice Beauty Awards and it was fabulous. The breakfast awards ceremony was held in the Sky Room at the New Museum and it was gorgeous! The view was breathtaking and the decor was to die for. Pink bouquets of hydrangeas, peonies and other pretty little things lined the table tops. Cute waiters served trays of tiny Belgian waffles, egg frittatas, bagels with cream cheese and lox and fruit and yogurt parfait.
Hosting the breakfast was Amy Astley, Teen Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief and Laura McEwen, Teen Vogue’s Publisher. Also in attendance was Eva Chen, Teen Vogue’s Beauty Director, as well as representatives from several major beauty brands. Plus, Teen Vogue selected a handful of dedicated readers to tell the audience about their favorite beauty products. It was great to hear from real girls and see what they loved! John Paul Mitchell received a special philanthropy award, because, as Amy mentioned, “Giving is the new black.”
Teen Vogue got over 100,000 votes for this year’s awards and there were no multiple choice answers, so readers were free to vote for whatever they liked. Some of my favorite products won, including St. Ives Apricot Scrub Blemish & Blackhead Control and MAC Eye Kohl in Smolder, and now I’ve got some great recommendations of more products to try.
It was especially awesome getting to chat with Amy Astley and Eva. Amy was dressed impeccably in a cream-colored dress and was super friendly and in-touch with her readers. Eva gave off such a positive energy and definitely seemed like the type of girl you’d want to spend the day with shopping at all the beauty counters and testing products! I also met a number of other great girls working in the beauty industry and it was such a pleasure. Hopefully I’ll be back next year!
xoxo,
Glossy
