St. Ives brought us the legendary Apricot Scrub, and we can’t be mad at them for that, but their new Olive Cleanser is whole ‘nother story.
When I spied this cleanser in the store, I was anticipating a cleanser that would gently cleanse away dirt and makeup, leaving skin supple and radiant. These expectations are also essentially the claims this product makes, but fails to deliver.
While this cleanser does do a good job removing makeup, it leaves my combination skin feeling stripped and tight. That, coupled with the noxious chemical odor makes this product a dud.
Also, this product doesn’t actually contain olive oil, but a chemically obtained olive oil derivative instead. So, if you’re expecting something natural, beware.

How disappointing!
I saw this the other day and thought it might be good (I have always loved the apricot scrub) because I’d recently been seeing information about the OCM method popping up (mixtures of castor oil and olive oil), but I didn’t pick it up. Now I’m glad I didn’t, and I’m glad you reviewed it. Yuck. Who wants a cleanser that makes their skin feel tight!
Yeah it was sad
My skin doesn’t get dry easily, so I knew something was whack!
I’m interested in trying the Oil Cleansing Method myself. But this product doesn’t seem to actually contain oil, while the OCM is straight-up oil.
