2008 has been the year of the eyebrow. Leading the pack is “Star Plucker” Anastasia Soare. Her All About Brows Kit packs the necessities for great brows, plus a couple other items that don’t quite hit the mark.

The Brow Powder Duo is great for filling in brows. The powder stays put all day, and blends in easily. It’s nice to have two shades to work with as well, to custom-blend or for times when you prefer a lighter or darker brow. Apply the powder with the angled part of the Duo Angle/Spooley Brush. It is the perfect stiffness to create sharp looking brows, and the spooley end helps to disperse the powder throughout the brow and brush brow hairs upwards.

The Eye Lights highlighting pencil goes on creamy and looks great; a highlight is critical for really making eyebrows pop. However, I always end up with black smears from the mascaraed tips of my lashes whenever using a creamy highlighter on the brow bone. If you’ve encountered this problem before, beware; otherwise it’s a good product. A light-colored eyeshadow will highlight just as well.

The stencils don’t quite work for me either. They end up looking unnatural and giving me way too much brow. If you already have a good brow shape, it’s better to fill them in freehand, or go get them shaped professionally so that you have a guide to follow.

As for the pink tweezers, they are dynamite. They grasp firmly onto stubble and fine hairs, and the angled tip allows for precision tweezing. And the clear eyebrow gel dries to a flexible, non-crispy hold and won’t turn grey.

But, I’ve saved the best for last. The Anastasia Brow Filler is truly innovative and rocks my world. It’s a dual-ended, spring loaded powder tipped sponge, designed for filling in sparse eyebrows. What’s amazing is that the powder is slightly damp, so that it will adhere only to skin and not to the brow hairs. It only comes in one shade, Blonde/Brunette, but both colors look good in my dark eyebrows. Application is fast and easy–10 seconds and you’ve got perfect brows that stay in place all day long.
